myTurn now supports placing a temporary hold on a member’s card (pre-authorize the card) to confirm that it can cover potential costs before checkout or payment.
In Finacial > Card Security settings, you can:
- Choose the hold basis: Use the value of the items being checked out to verify that the card can cover their replacement value, or use the usage cost and amount being charged.
- Set a minimum hold: Verify that the card can cover at least a specified amount, even when the calculated amount is lower.
- Set a maximum hold: Limit holds based on item value. The maximum does not reduce a hold below the amount actually being charged.
- Set a default item value: Use a specified value when an item has no value recorded.
- Choose how to handle free or zero-value checkouts: Skip the hold or use the minimum hold amount.
- Customize the messages shown to members and admins.
A temporary hold is not an extra charge or a deposit kept throughout the loan. Any amount owed is collected, and the remainder should be released right away. Temporary holds require Stripe card payments to beenabled.
